I am elated to be in the pioneer class of the COTP, which in my opinion has provided me with much-needed exposure to international taxation. The Program is carefully crafted to give insight into the Chinese tax system with a comparative angle into the European, US, and Australian tax systems. The course curriculum is designed in a deliberate and diligent manner. It enables the students to learn from experts in the international taxation field both academic and professional, from the Chinese Tax Managers Association and tax advisory experts in the Big 4 firms.

Indeed, the choice of Xiamen University to offer the program was also perfect bearing in mind its history in promotion of studies on tax law in China. The university environment is beautiful and peaceful. Part of the program is also offered at the National Tax Institute in Yangzhou, which is an equally quiet and convenient ecosystem that enables students to learn and experience different cultures in China.

In the recent past, the program has also sponsored students to attend study tours to the Maritime Silk Road Central Legal District in Xiamen and the 3rd China-Africa Expo in Changsha. Personally, the program has enabled me gain a deeper scholarly and practical understanding on international tax, which I intend to apply when I return to my country.

Frida Ann Akoth Ombogo, is a legal practitioner who works at the Kenya Revenue Authority as an Assistant Manager in the Domestic Taxes Department.
